Full network
This network contains all literary characters and all Wikipedia language versions as nodes.
On this page, the visualization of the character network analysed in the paper "The Wikipedia Republic of Literary Characters" by Wojcik, Bunzeck and Zarrieß is available. The force-graph-based visualization features two distinct sets of nodes: character nodes and Wikipedia nodes. The character nodes are represented by pink dots, which scale according to their number of links. When hovering over them with the mouse, the represented character is shown. The Wikipedia nodes are represented by their names in blue colour. For more information on the data, please consult the "Methods" section of the paper.
Although the visualization should render properly on every modern web browser, best performance has been observed with WebKit-based browsers like Apple Safari and Blink-based browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or the open Chromium. On Gecko-based browsers like Mozilla Firefox, the visualization is still accessible, but performance might be impaired.
This visualization and the data and scripts it is based on are also persistently stored in Dataverse.
